Fraud prevention (Velocity)
Velocity is a mechanism that prevents fraud attempts. It analyzes how often certain data is used in transactions and checks whether this data appears in lists of behaviors that require security actions.
In Link de Pagamento and Checkout Cielo, Velocity is already active, and you don't need to request it from Support. Cielo defines the rules based on internal analyses, and the merchant can't customize or disable them.
Transactions blocked by Velocity
When Velocity blocks a transaction, the transaction isn't completed and receives the return code BP171. The order status is Não finalizado (not finalized).
To find these transactions:
- Go to the Cielo website;
- On the main menu, click E-commerce;
- Select Link de Pagamento;
- Click the Pedidos tab;
- Select the period you want;
- In Situação, filter by Não finalizado;
- Open the order. The Dados do pagamento section shows the message "Rejected by fraud risk (velocity)" and the code
BP171.
To export the list, use the Exportar option, which applies the selected filters and period. For more details, see Orders.
A blocked transaction can't be reused. Wait more than one hour before making a new payment attempt. If Velocity blocks the transaction again, the merchant must contact Cielo Support for analysis.
