Capture confirms the authorization of the transaction so that the amount can be settled. When a transaction is captured, the amount is charged to the card and included in the shopper's statement. Only captured transactions are settled for the merchant.

Cielo allows full or partial capture. There are two types of capture:


In this section, we present the guidelines for doing the posterior capture.

When performing subsequent capture, the merchant confirms that the authorized amount can be charged by the card issuing financial institution.

The default deadline for capturing a transaction is 07 days.

Capture has a standard execution period of 7 calendar days. Check your Cielo registration to see if your affiliation is configured for this period.

After this period, it is not possible to capture the transaction. If capture does not occur within the deadline, the authorization expires, the amount will not be charged to the shopper's card, and the limit will be released.

General capture rules

  • Only transactions with status 1 (Authorized) can be captured. A transaction with status 1 (Authorized) has been approved by the issuer, but the amount has not yet been charged to the shopper's card. Capture is the next step to transfer the amount to the merchant's account;
  • After capture, the transaction changes to status 2 (PaymentConfirmed). Capture indicates that the purchase amount has been effectively charged to the shopper's card and transferred to the merchant's account.

After capture, it is not possible to perform additional captures on the same transaction.

Partial and Full Capture

The payment gateway allows you to capture either the entire authorized amount or only part of it, according to the merchant's needs. The capture can be:

  • For partial capture, send the Amount field in the capture request with the desired amount to be captured;
  • For full capture, do not send the Amount field. The total authorized amount will be considered.

After the capture is sent, it is not possible to send new captures for the same transaction.

Important

Transactions with a value of less than 20 cents in the financial schedule are not settled. We do not recommend capturing amounts less than 20 cents.
